Default Go Social Like Buttons and GDPR

Hi all,

I read this article suggesting that putting social like buttons on your site in not a good idea as you are (presumably) responsible for what facebook is doing, as for the visitor, it looks like they are still on your site with a popup on top of it https://www.cookielaw.org/blog/2011/6/15/facebook-like-and-other-social-buttons/

However aren't these buttons 3rd party links, and should you say in your privacy policy that you have 3rd party links and so when you go there, you are subject to their cookies, not yours?

So there is the Go Social plugin for x cart too...

Any ideas on how to explain these like buttons or not have them at all?

Since you are doing your busyness in Vietnam, why would you worry about GDPR?

Of course, some Apple made browser will consider 3rd party cookies as security bleach, but then again, soon they will reject even the first party cookies, so, one might forget it...

Not have them at all. They are completely useless and do more harm than good. And slow down your site as well.

As for how to explain in policy - read GDPR if you want to be covered by it, I am sure it explains what/how to do. To me if these links/buttons are on your site it is your responsibility as you put them there not FB or Google. You are not responsible as to what data they might collect and submit to the 3rd party service but you are responsible to inform customers about these links/buttons and what they do.
