I've bought this for a test site and have been stuck step 1, the version is 4.1.4 of the tpl files but the current version is 4.1.5.

I've contacted cart-lab but have yet to have a response for a current version, I sent an email and fill in the contact form on 1 Jan 2007.

Any sort of response would be nice just so I know what the situation is, or post it here.

Thanks,

Andy

Only install the listed changed files in the readme.txt file to help keep any newly created files from the 4.1.5 version of X-Cart. I am currently reviewing and updating the skin with 4.1.5 as well as addressing bug reports people have been reporting. All license holders will get a new release once its available.

Is there a current release of this yet?

I got the following on 28 Jan 2007:

Andy,

Currently a 4.1.6 version is int he works just to cover all the changes since the release of the CSS skin for 4.1.x, I will be sending everyone who has purchased a license an update for it very soon.

Thanks.

Without being current this mod has no use to me, can you please update me when a current version will be released.

Thanks,

We are in the middle of integrating X-cart 4.1.6 with a large custom e-commerce site to take advantage of customer and cart functionality which is a step up from what we built from scratch.

The graphics designer/HTML guy is really big on doing a site based on CSS as much as possible. (We already use it but only to a limited degree.)

I just mentioned to him he might want to familiarize himself with Smarty tags. Essentially I'm doing the initial integration of the cart and customer portion using the existing site look and fee. But we are re-designing the entire site later this year and the graphic guy will do most of that work.

I'm a PHP programmer and the Smarty tag format is very easy to learn and go modify the templates. I've got a basic knowledge of CSS too.

What I'm concerned about is I need to integrate X-cart's cart and customer functions ASAP. I was thinking of purchasing a 7dana.com template so I have a base to modify that doesn't look like your standard X-cart template.

Should I just use Cart-Lab's CSS Template instead or will I find it considerably more time consuming to modify not being a CSS Guru. This is a fairly large, established E-commerce site, sort of a mid-level Amazon so I need something rock solid.

But on the other hand, if this is the key to moving to a site driven primarily by CSS as opposed to HTML/XHTML/Smarty and it won't be that hard to work with if even if you are not a CSS Guru, then I think we'd all be happier in the long wrong, especially the designer since we wants to go all CSS. It is just he doesn't have the time right now to work on the integration and I do.

Maybe I should just use Smarty for now then switch to Cart-Lab CSS for the redesign when the Designer/CSS Guru has time and both X-cart 4.1 and Cart-Lab CSS templates are rock solid? (Did I just answer my own question?

I forgot to ask, with implementation of Cart-Lab CSS, do you still use Smarty tags in addition to modifying the CSS? So this is just another Smarty tag template for X-cart the relies much more heavily on CSS?
