Could some be kind enough to let meknow the easiest way to change the background colors on my home page. Thanks

I have updated my signature as requested and thank you for the responses. The editing guide is a help. I have a basic knowledge of HTML and at times way over my head with php, css, .tpl etc. If the skin1.css is the master stylesheet what is the easiest way to edit this file? could I use a basic File editor?

You can edit the file right in your 'Edit Templates' area. And it is main.css in version 4.3. I'd suggest editing it with a robust FTP program though, much better than the built-in editor.
