I've just come across this - on batteryguy.com if you search allen bradley 1756-l62 it will find results including part of the string ALLEN BRADLEY 1756-L62 (Series A) (in extra fields).

However if I search ALLEN BRADLEY 1756-L62 (Series A) I get no results. Do the brackets foul up the search codes in X-Cart and if so is there a way round this?

look at the log files for sql errors. I suspect the () trigger some sort of syntax error

You're correct the error message is:
Description : Got error 'parentheses not balanced' from regexp

IF I search with only an opening '(' - e.g. ALLEN BRADLEY 1756-L62 (S

But if I search with both '(' and ')' there is no error message.....
