Hi!

Please check these articles:
- http://www.privacy-europe.com/blog/is-the-cookie-law-really-dead/
- https://econsultancy.com/blog/63118-17-useful-examples-of-eu-cookie-law-compliance

In a few words you don't need the ugly popup box asking visitors to allow the use of cookies anymore.
Instead you can just add a website page explaing your use of cookies and put a link to this page in the footer menu.

Here is another interesting link on the topic - a sample cookie policy that will work for a web shop:

Hi X cart,

I am wanting to understand how x cart 5 in general uses cookies, so that I can write something sensible in the cookies and privacy policy pages.

For example, what are cookies used for in x cart 5?

is it to remember a cart contents?
to remember personal info entered into a cart?
to know if a customer is logged into their account?
all of above?
anything else?

Any info is most welcome!

There is a module that creates the Privacy Statement page and adds information on cookies there:

This is an interesting one:

https://www.itgovernance.eu/blog/en/how-the-gdpr-affects-cookie-policies

as this implies you need to ask for consent BEFORE any cookies are set, and then ability to opt out of cookie collection! How does one achieve that?

and this, a bit more recent:

https://eugdprcompliant.com/cookies-consent-gdpr/

I've seen the ability to switch selected cookies on or off on a website before but does it require cutting edge techniology to acheive this on an x-cart installation with third party cookies like Google analytics, affiliate trackng etc?

Hi all,

With the GDPR module, under GDPR activities, it says Concierge is a part of x cart that has access to personal data etc.

What does it do specifically?

I have noticed that people are writing more descriptive descriptiopns about how their personal data is used, now that GDPR is around.

So to do so, it would be great to have a bit more info, such as is it x cart remembering cart info for persistent cart? Is it for holding the info temporarily until an order is put through to my payment processor etc? Or is it more for stats like analytics?

Thanks for any input!
