Default LiteCommerce 3 beta is released

Hi!

We are happy to announce that we have developed all the features planned for the LiteCommerce 3 and released a beta version:
http://www.litecommerce.com/download.html
Now you can test both the stand-alone and the Drupal 7 version of LC3.

So, we focus on fixing bugs and preparing for work on features that will be released as LiteCommerce modules later.

Please report bugs at http://bt.litecommerce.com/

Thank you in advance!

Looking on the download screen, can we get some clarification between the two download options?

Is the standalone version applicable when we have our own Drupal installation and are just looking to bolt Litecommerce onto it, or is it separate and does not need drupal?

With the main download version (~10MB) is that one that includes drupal & litecommerce? What does a user do if they already have drupal on their site?

Just verifying which to download as there's no details on the download screen as to what is included in each.

Thanks,

I don't see Google Checkout or Paypal. Will these features be added or is there a way to add these features.

Thank you for the feedback!
We are redesigning the Downloads page and will upload an updated version in a week or so.

The main download option is the "Ecommerce CMS" package including both Drupal 7 and LiteCommerce 3. This is for new web sites built with Drupal plus LiteCommerce.

The "stand-alone" version includes LiteCommerce 3 only. So, if you don't need Drupal, this is the version you are to download and install.

If you have a web site based on Drupal 7 you are to download the "stand-alone" version too, however it will take extra steps in order to get it connected with Drupal:
a) Download the "lc3_clean_theme-1.0.0-beta1.zip" Drupal theme and the "lc_connector-1.0.0-beta1.zip" Drupal module on the page at https://github.com/litecommerce/drupal/downloads
b) Install and enable the theme and the module into your Drupal installation
c) Enable "Drupal Connector" module in the LiteCommerce back-end
d) Configure the Drupal module and specify the path to your "stand-alone" LiteCommerce installation

Feel free to contact me should you have any questions on this.

There is no Google Checkout and PayPal integration modules yet. However, PayPal is in the list of LC3 modules which we plan to release soon after releasing the LC3.
As for Google Checkout - it depends on how many users vote for it.

If you check the LiteCommerce 3 back-end, you will find "Module Marketplace" page under the "Add-ons" tab (on our demo web site it is here). Module Marketplace is a single directory of free and paid LC3/XC5 modules developed by our team and third-party developers. Third-party modules will be validated by our team before being listed there. So, it doesn't matter who develop a module - the module will be listed there and LC3/XC5 users will be able to buy (if it is a paid module), download, install and upgrade it directly from their LiteCommerce back-ends. The only requirement is accepting the Module Marketplace terms and conditions and following our guidelines and coding standards.

Thanks!

This is a "cart before the horse" situation unfortuantely. PayPal, much like Authorize.net, has become a standard when dealing with eCommerce sites. To not already have PayPal built in will result in fewer people testing/opening their stores with the new version. PayPal should be a mandatory inclusion before an official release.

Hi!

I would like to announce that we have released the second Beta.

The major change from the first Beta is that now most of the modules are not included into the installation package, but should be downloaded and installed in the Module Markteplace section of the shop back-end (the top menu -> "Add-ons" tab -> "Module Marketplace").

Also, we have published instructions on installing LiteCommerce with and without Drupal 7: http://bit.ly/iP5CMM
