Default Re: X-Cart 4.2 beta testing

I want to check here before I report this as a bug as it might be "normal" under the circumstances. Putting a test order through xcart using PayPal as payment method but in test mode I did not receive a notification from the shop that and order been placed although I basically have everything ticked regarding notifications. Is this possibly normal when using the PayPal sandbox? Although I don't see any specific reason why the shop couldn't notify me, I can imagine there might be a spacial case under these circumstances?

Email with invoice to the buyer went through fine though. Also the sandbox didn't notify the "seller" but the purchase was registered in the test account.

Xcart please this would be sooo cool - should I make this a 'bug'?

This won't be implemented in 4.2

Please organize the admin side menus.

Create a shipping side menu and put all shipping related links in it.

The Management, Administration and Inventory menus are a mess and their titles do not pertain to what is in them.
Anything that is a setting should be in one menu.
Anything that is a task should be in another menu.

Put the most commonly accessed links at the top of the menus!!!!

Maybe something more like this:
...

How about the following menu groups?

Management
Orders
Users
Statistics
Edit ratings
Discounts
Coupons
News management
Gift certificates
Membership levels
Wish lists
Import/Export
Files

Catalog
Products
Add new product
Extra fields
Categories
Manufacturers
Update inventory

Settings
General settings
Payment methods
Tax system
Shipping methods
Shipping charges
Shipping markups
Countries
States
Destination zones

Administration
Summary
DB backup/restore
Modules
Static pages
Speed bar
Webmaster mode
Edit templates
HTML catalog
Languages
Images location
Credit card types
Titles
Patch/Upgrade

I've tried to put the most "clickable" links to the top (links related to store management and catalog management) whilst other ones to the bottom (links related to store settings and store administration). Please let me know if you have any corrections to the list. Thank you!

Several months ago they had provided us with other time frames We will return "viaKlix v2" integration back to 4.2.

Here's the way I have my menus organized on our stock install which seems to work great for our clients:

I spoke with an Elavon rep yesterday, and he told me that viaklix2 customers would get "at least 12 months notice" before viaklix was to be retired. Elavon has NO migration strategy for viaklix customers -- that is, they have not even thought of what they will do when the time comes to move viaklix to virtual merchant -- I asked if I could be moved immediately, and they told me that it was a "new product, requiring new account numbers and we would have to purchase the software" -=- that's bullshit, in my opinion. I will stay with viaklix2 until Elavon figures out their plan.

In the mean time, you should know that the viaklix2 scrip[t that is in 4.x is junk (that is, it takes the customer TO viaklix to fill out a form, not use x-cart's payment info)... I will send you the viaklix script that works great (that I paid support points to get 2+ years ago). I hope this helps.

Does this mean initial realease of 4.2 or 4.2 at a whole? And if not can you give a plausable reason?

Must not have enabled this for everyone - I've not been able to find it either, no matter which way the filters are applied. Maybe its for the better... I wont be distracted playing whilst I should be working ...

Try this, go to "My Licenses" page in Help Desk. For the filter, set Brand to Xcart and Status to "Select status" in other words DON'T select a status. It's a bit odd but I think before the license been accepted it's there as Undefined and dosn't show in any filter. The "Select status" on the other hnd works like something of an "All" option.

{EDIT] and oops! don't forget to click the Filter button!

I hope this helps and just a further comment, I find the beta remarkably stable and well worth testing or be ditracted by the more testers the soonerit can be out. Although I am a bit disapointed memberships still are restricted to 1 per customer just the CSS design and clean url's is a huge step forward.

Thanks Joakim, did try that before and again just now, but no go..
I'll just wait for the final release before digging into it.
Thanks for taking the time to answer tho, and good luck with the crash test....

That is much more user friendly than the old version. Thanks!

Still no shipping menu but that's not the end of the world.

Quick question.

I was rumored that version 4.2 would also incorporate SEO making the need for these mods no longer. Has this come true?
