I have tried everything I know to try, bought 2 skins on my own money, out 200$,

I need to have boxes in the main area of the site that show products, my boss wants it to look something like a competitor site, however I am having severe issues. they want the entire right hand side gone and replaced with items so the site is "selling" everywhere.

I purchased the ferrari and the css skins from BCSE and 7dana, but I cannot figure out how to add boxes or modify the site.

I am not good with smarty, and I have one day to get the product boxes in and modify the site.

Ok, so which boxes are you referring to? The promo ads on the right? The colored area at the top of the main area?

the top i know i can make our logo are in, the search bar isn't bad on ours except the speedbar and search are not on the same line, the main thing is the picture above featured products and the promos on the right, however these will be filled with items we decide to run as new or featured

The picture at the top you can add right in the welcome_txt language variable, or in customer/main/welcome.tpl. You can add a different image for each category by adding the image to the category description.

The items on the right are just plain old images, you simply add them to the third column in customer/home.tpl. To call an image, just put it in the skin1/images directory and call it like this:

is there any way to delete the authbox and the your cart on the right hand side?
i want to place the images there and have featured items underneath

Sure, just remove the code from customer/home.tpl, or comment it out if you may want to use it later:

Also.. you can set up the cart in a 2 column rather than 3 col setup. (Just reinstall) THis will take out the auth and everything on the right hand side. It will also allow you to include the static images on the right hand side. Also.. you can use the featured image functionality to put thumbnails from the database in this location if you want. Otherwise use the static images. You can use a 3rd party image banner rotator and point to some products in your database.
