I just hope the rest of the bug fixes come soon, because I really like the new version!

So, what version is likely to be the release version? Any thoughts on how long it will be until it' released?

Hmmm, I just noticed that the version that's being sold on the X-cart home page is version 4.0.1. What's that about then? Is it release-worthy? Why are they suggesting new customers buy it, but don't recommend that existing customers upgrade?

Seems very. very odd to me.

Default Bug in 4.0.1 product categories.

Is anyone else having this issue?

I created some products. I was not able to change the main category for the products. It just kept going back to the category it was originally created in.

I'm talking about the main category, not the additional categories.

Had to edit the DB manually to fix this.

Yep, same problem here. I either have to edit the DB or delete the product and start over.

Default Bug in 4.0.1 Product sort

I have default product sort set to price, reverse order.

When I have two pages of products in a catagory it sorts by price ascending - Good.

Then I hit the "sort by sku" link and it sorts by sku. - Good.

Problem is when I hit the arrow to take me to the next page of results, it then takes me to the next page but it is sorted by price, and some products are showing up on both page 1 and 2.

In a nutshell.
The user selected sort option does not carry to the next pages. When they try to go the next page it resorts by the default sort again.

Default All these bugs in version 4 is this deja-vue!!!

Looking at the bug list in version 4 makes me stick to the earlier versions as it seems some of the old bugs which were corrected in the earlier versions have now crept back in version 4.

I would like to hear from those who are using version 4 and the problems they have been having with it.

Thanks in advance.

Version 4.0.1 is quite stable with few bugs. I tested 4.0.0 and it had several bugs, but they seemed to be fixed in 4.0.1. There are a few small things I have seen but nothing I can't fix manually or just make slight changes.

I can't wait until 4.0.2, I'll bring our main commerce site live when that comes out.

I too have had pretty good success with 4.0.1, still a few minor bugs, but the major ones seem to be fixed. I also intend to go live after the next release.

Default How unstable is 4.0.1?

[Standing on small soap box]
We just bought our first copy of X-Cart last week based upon the information listed on the x-cart website. Very disappointed to see that after it was paid for they tell us not to use 4.0.1 because its under development, and that we should use the 3.5.10.

We want to open our store by Sept 15th. I am thinking about going with 4.0.1, but have some strong concerns about the "unstable" disclaimer.

Personally, I am having pretty good luck with 4.0.1. The bugs I have found so far are not impeding the ability to order, search or upload/view inventory. There are minor things, yes, but there are ALWAYS minor things, even with 'stable' releases. As with anything, test test test before you go live and you should be able to work the bugs out. 'Unstable' is a rather harsh word and I don't think that is exactly the case with 4.0.1. They are just covering their bases I think with that disclaimer.
