Default Change the HTML page name when using HTML Catalog?

Is there a way to change the output of the HTML page when using HTML Catalog?

So instead of getting: product_18602_Green_Gizmo.html
Have it automatically output: Green_Gizmo.html
Or even: Green_Gizmo_product_18602.html

Instead of getting: category_287_Gizmos_page_1.html
Have it automatically output: Gizmos_page_1.html
Or even: Gizmos_page_1_category_287.html

Thank you!

It'll be in the php files thats generate the pages, I would imagine it's a little more involved than just changing the page name as all the other links have to be altered to, for example the pages nagvigation bar at the top, links from the sub cats themselves, links in the best sellers, featured etc etc

It's not really worth it in my opinion unless you have a very specific reason for doing so. Search engines for example don't care what your web page file name actually is.

Actually, I believe if the URL is TOO long in characters, you lose points for that.

not true groovico. You can see instances often where google (almost 90% of searches currently are done on google) will rank a site highly for a particular keyword or keyword phrase where the only occurrence of that keyword is in the filename or subdomain. http://webhosting.yahoo.com (comes up #2 for 'webhosting' in google) is a good example. http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/webhosting is another. Remember webhosting is different from "web hosting."

Why the entire word PRODUCT in the URL

Why does it need to be there anyway?

Why not make it P1001

1001 being the product #

Site title always outranks anything on the file name itself, I've seen an increasing trend with google choosing to list the product.php page over the catalog generated page with the x-cart sites we work on.

Googles spidering more dynamic content than ever now, problem with x-cart using the product title is in some cases the title is very long creating a file like "product_123_really_nice_computer_case_half_price. html". Googles changing all the time, not seen much information on how the longer file names are treated.

Default product.php rankings

that's interesting about the product.php pages ranking better than the html equivalents. How close are the pageranks for the 2 types of pages?

Page ranks of 0. Even though pages can be position #1 out of a search that returns 13,000 and that's for the product.php page. Google appears to prefer the HTML version for category pages though.
