Anonymous to Registered customer
In XC5 there seems to be no way to force a customer to register (why?). That being the case, is it possible to change an anonymous checkout to a registered customer or does a whole new account have to be created?

But after a customer purchased something anonymously, you can register an account for them and make this account fully functional. In order to do that, go to their anonymous profile in the admin back-end and hit the 'Register account' button at the bottom. I attached screenshot showing where to look.

I think, it is pretty convenient for customers not to create account before purchasing something. From the admin point of view, I don't see any difficulties as well. You can track anonymous customers' order in their anonymous accounts, and you can convert an anonymous user to a registered any time.

Re: Anonymous to Registered customer
Because there are a lot of business which do not allow not only to purchase but even to see the entire site and prices until registered and logged in.
XC5 must allow for both setups. This is a limitation which is essential for many stores. There are specialized stores, wholesale stores, etc which require registration and customers to be approved first before they can purchase.

Re: Anonymous to Registered customer
In XC4, we used to restrict bonus points to those who held user accounts.
Regardless, as long as I can convert them to a registered customer, I can deal with it. Thanks for posting the image and explaining that...

Re: Anonymous to Registered customer
Thank you for the feedback, Steve, we do appreciate it.
However, I would like to note that we have the module called 'Hide Prices' which hides prices and disables checkout for non-registered customers. Also, the ability to approve customer accounts before they have the ability to see prices and checkout is planned to be implemented in future releases of the module.

Re: Anonymous to Registered customer
Thanks Igor. I still think the choice to force registration or not should be stock XC behavior. There could be many reasons for a store owner to want to do that besides pricing. To me it is limitation not to be able to do that.

This was a stock feature in XC4, and I believe it should be there in XC5 as well. But since there is a 'Hide Prices' module available in the marketplace, I doubt the development team will decide to add the same functionality to the core.

Re: Anonymous to Registered customer
It's whatever you guys decide, I am just saying...
And by the way - hide prices and require registration are 2 different things. I want customers to be able to browse the store, see everything and checkout. And be forced to create an account at checkout as part of the process. The hide pricing module work the other way around - forces customers to register in order to be able to add products to cart. This of course also will work for some stores types which want to have a no-price catalog until logged in. Just saying.
