Permission denied error!
File /skin1.css was not saved.

That's what happens whenever I try to change the skin.css file from inside XCart. And when I try to upload the whole file, it just doesn't seem to take at all. I think I'm missing something important. I've edited it before and could make changes, but now it's not working.
Please help.

You need to change the permissions, in telnet try:

chmod 666 skin1.css

(or simply change it in a graphical FTP client)

...and also make sure your owner is the right one for your webserver (like "apache"), but unless you changed it manually it shouldn't be an issue.

well, maybe i don't feel so stupid. it's still not working. i did a chmod 777 for owner, group, and other. but i still can't modify it.
