Shareen, don't even bother with this script as anyone who knows what they are doing can just grab the images from their cache file or view your source code. If you want to truly protect your images, watermark them as discussed above.

That is just it, the key word is anyone that knows. most of the time it is the ones that do not know that are tying to steal your hard work.

It is just like adding an alarm on your car, a real criminal knows how to get around it but the small fries do not so they do not even bother with it. The average user does not know.

I did watermark my pictures and I do not see how this can protect them.

Go to Istockphoto.com, one of the big stock photo sites. You don't see any right click protection there, you see watermarks. If you really want to protect your photos, right click protection is a waste of time and just annoys customers who want to send a photo of a product to their friend or save it themselves. Instead of preventing a hacker from stealing your photo, you prevent a sale. If someone wants to steal your photos, they more than likely know what they are doing.

wow- this sure opened up a can of worms...

It's 2008 now, but the issue still persists of copyright transgression ...I am a self-employed artist whose livelihood depends on the fact that only I can sell my artwork. I am honoured when people choose to spend money on my prints that I sell on the internet- and it is a fantastic arena in which to showcase and sell art. But the flip side to it is how vulnerable people creating their own original work (this includes music) are - I have had instances where I have found out that people have taken my images, and it has left me quite disheartened.
I do watermark my work, but these days even that is no deterrent.

sad but true !

Well, if you digitally watermark them as well as visually watermarking them, you can easily file suit when you find that image being used without permission.

Yes- I do , but again, I am very philosophical these days about it, and unfortunately the legal costs of taking someone to court for copyright infringement is simply not worth the time or money - but I would do it I guess if it became a serious issue for me ( and maybe if I was a famous artist ! )

...this has been a good thread to browse through for a sense of solidarity!
