I would like to see a bit more flexability in use of the membership levels, like the option to set more then one level (or group) a category is visable to and maybe also on product level. If not to others this is very useful when selling software and particulary with updates.

Otherwise thanks for a great product and looking forward to the new release.

The above is implemented in v4.0 - http://yourURL/admin/configuration.php?option=User_Profiles

Some time ago I sent some suggestions to the x-cart software architects / developers. I have now taken a bit of time to take a look at v4.0 and have found some of the suggested features implemented.

Below are some of the features that are now implemented:

1.) Perhaps an option could be implemented in General Settings to select
whether, after a customer has logged into the website to have them directed to
their cart (currently in x-cart) or after logging in, the customer is redirected
to the referring page i.e.- a customer would login on home.php and be taken back
to home.php after logging in. Looking at posts in the forum, this seems a feature that would be very much appreciated.

Can't see an option as yet? - but if a customer logs in on e.g. a product page, they are redirected back to that page after logging in. If they have an item in their shopping cart, customers are directed to their shopping cart after logging in.

2.) Would it be possible for you to implement a global variable to display the
customers name after they have logged in, rather than their login name given
with the {$login} variable. This would make x-cart sites more personal.

Not sure if this is implemented as yet

3.) Have the option to add extra fields to e.g. the customer registration page
in a similar way to extra fields in the products table, so users of x-cart can
add additional fields, such as 'how did you hear about us' or to gather further
information from their customers.

This has been implemented and can be found under: admin/configuration.php?option=User_Profiles

4.) Improved search.php file, to enable all fields such as 'productid',
'productcode', extra fields etc. to be searched.

This has been implemented and can be found under: admin/configuration.php?option=Search_products

5.) Possiblity to included customers ip address with each order

Not sure if this is implemented as yet

6.) Perhaps implement 'ip address based security', where perhaps only designated
ip addresses are able to access the administration area of an x-cart site. This
would be ideal to allow access to the admin area from a specific site/computer.

Not sure if this is implemented as yet

One thing I find missing with a lot of scripts is a very basic template set, stripped down to the minimum basics. Having one would make some designs a lot easier to create.

At the moment with the current templates we have to adapt the existing design, rather than start from scratch which is often easier and quicker.

Just installing ver 4.00 to have a look.

Wow, there are a lot of great additions in this version. Here's some more comments...

1. I would still like to see created Global product options appear on the admin edit page so we can actallu see what's there.

2. How about an option to search by manufacturer in Advanced search? Would be useful for large stores.

3. One thing that frustrates some of my clients is having to go through the languages selection screen. If a store only uses one language it would be useful to be able to bypass this page.

4. Would like to see a simplified way of adding site news with quick access from the admin home page, a simple text field would do great, possibly with a few older news topics which would be editable? The current method of the templates version is a bit cumbersome for some of my clients.

It's good to see slightly larger textareas in the language edit page, and Nochex!

You should be able to access this through {$userinfo.firstname} and {$userinfo.lastname} if the customer is logged in.

I would love to see a decent newsletter manager--one that allowed different templates that could be selected. Any decent newsletter management tool has this. phpList is an amazing free newsletter tool that should be used as an example for this.

The store files should be in the main directory, not in the customer folder.

An index redirect is a terrible idea.

You have to download it and run it on your server right now. As far as I know there is no public beta demonstration store, but the distribution should be in your files area.
