Default Informational

Thinking about using xcart as an informational database with no way to check out. Wondering it its possible.

Its a rental store and be a nice easy way to showcase products and the add to wish list and send to a friend options would be great.

Anyway to do this easily short of editing the code to remove the cart functions?

As far as I know, there is no way to disable the cart functions from the admin inteface... Removing it from the code should be simple since all you would need to do is remove the mini-cart and the "add to cart" buttons and such.

A few minutes would be enough to accomplish disabling the cart.

Yes this can be done, as Tal pointed out, by modifying the templates and hiding any code related to cart, checkout, buy.... It is not so difficult but may take you time to strip it out and find all possible placed

X-Cart Marketplace is exactly the same thing that you are thinking about. I mean it is based on X-Cart PRO with disabled shopping cart abilities (works as catalog). We had to remove add to cart buttons and some other small things from X-Cart templates and disable payments, shipping, etc in the admin back-end. It s not a hard task to do.
