Default Moving from litecommerce to x-cart

After running Litecommerce for about 4 years i am making the move to x-cart. not sure why I bought litecommerce in the first place? Maybe the price at the time.

So I have successfully installed in the subdirectory /xcart.
I have also run the script supplied by qualiteam to transfer from litecommerce to x-cart. It all worked well except for egoods. i have about 100 and although the description and images moved the downloadable files didn't For images you set the directory but for egoods the instructions seem to suggest that it will find them. It is not a huge problem as I can just find each file and link to it. But any help would be appreciated.

I will want to move x-cart to the root to replace litecommerce when I have everything moved over - any suggestions on this? My host handsonwebhosting have a great support page to do this but i just wondered of anyone has done this when moving from litecommerce to x-cart. I would also like to move litecommerce to a sub-directory so that I don't lose it. In other words I want to swap!

Any tips would be welcome.

Many thanks

Xcart 4.7 seems to be working well - and glad I moved over from Litecommerce.

If you're not yet deep into moving to X-Cart, please hold it off for two months. Our new platform has a lot of code portions from LiteCommerce.

Switching to X-Cart v4.3 would mean having to learn X-Cart.
It is more than reasonable to use X-Cart v4.3 (v4.4 once it's released), if you *already* know X-Cart.

If you have LiteCommerce now and nothing really rushes you, you are much better off waiting for our new platform to be released.

If you do not want to wait might I suggest you employ a professional to do the move for you. We had Lumino Internet (Paul Dodman one of the MODs on here) do the move for us. We had no interuption of service and were very pleased as usual.

many thanks for the replies. does anyone know when the new platform will be launched and what will be different. also what will be the changes from 4.3 to 4.4? i think that with Mods 4.3 seems to do everything I want. I guess there is also a chance that the newer solutions will cost more and the move from Litecommerce maybe more difficult?

Many thanks

As for when the new versions will be out, your best bet is the roadmap. http://help.qtmsoft.com/index.php?title=X-Cart:Roadmap I would check it often as it always seems to be changing...

As for 4.4, here is the latest thread about it. http://forum.x-cart.com/showthread.php?t=53309&highlight=screenshots

Hope it helps

I take it this isn't an official release date?
Don't get me wrong, I hope it is released in June but as you have not even released a feature set, let alone any insights or beta you can't blame me for thinking it won't be out in two months.

The problem remains that it is impossible to make informed descions without information. The lack of any information about xcart 5 means that many customers will either move to xcart "too soon" or to other carts. If we had reliable information regarding a release date AND regarding features, then people would be better placed to decide to wait rather than jump ship from Litecommerce to whereever.

But we have raised this complaint many times and it has always fallen on deaf ears.

If X-Cart 4.3 does what you want, and LiteCommerce does not, upgrade seems to be reasonable.

Not really. Why would you go to the expense and hassle to move to a platform that will be replaced in 2 months?
As Richard says, we need proper information to make informed business decisions.

Loosing business because you cannot present your products in the way that you need to, could be a reason to go through the hassle.
