Default Does x-cart meet HM Customs & Excise Vat requirments

Were consiering using x-cart for our next project, but need whatever solution we decide to use to be 100% HMCE compliant. We currently use ClickCartPro6 which meets HMCE requirments in every respect but for various reasons were moving from CCP and want to use x-cart, but it has to be Vat compliant, is x-cart HMCE compliant?

Thanks for any help

There are many many many users of Xcart who are in theUK and pay VAT.

That said it is impossible to answer your question exactly as what are you going to sell and what VAT rules apply may be different.

Richard, thank you for your help with this matter. Without someone from UK I won't be able to address the question properly.

Sleeper, could you please explain term "HMCE compliant" for your particular case? I googled the phrase but there are too many possible variants. I believe it is related to taxes setup in your web shop. X-Cart can do almost any tax configuration with help of its "Taxes" configuration section in the admin back-end. See "X-Cart Tax settings"

Thank you for your prompt replies.

There are so many variables and options for UK Vat but here are some of them;

1. Show inc. and exc vat
2. Vat on shipping
3. Vat on products (high or low rate) this must work seperately from the shipping - for example you may not want to charge Vat on products but do charge Vat on shipping.
4. Some products dont apply Vat
5. Offer EU Tax rebate
6. Supply of digital goods rules
7. Show Vat invoice with Vat breakdowns and Vat number

Sleeper, you should check all of that at http://help.qtmsoft.com/index.php?title=X-Cart:Tax_Settings - that's a very detailed description of X-Cart's Tax configurator. There are samples as well.

Quote:
X-Cart provides you with a flexible tool for defining taxes to be used in your store. Simple settings allow you to define virtually any tax and tax rate. For each tax you can define how it needs to be calculated, to what products it needs to be applied, how information about it needs to be displayed to customers, etc. You can make taxes dependent on the customer's location (billing or shipping address) and on the customer's membership. Customers coming from a certain location and having a certain membership will see just the tax rates for their destination zone and membership level, while the other tax rates will be hidden. X-Cart also allows you to have non-taxable products at your store.

VAT can be configured to be included in or excluded from product prices, apply or not apply on shipping, etc.

You can have products that do not apply VAT and many other things.

Also, I hope someone from UK or EU share their experience here.
