Hi

I know you can overide the price of a product that is sent to the cart, by sending the $price variable to equal whatever you need it to..

I am trying to do the same for description.. I have entered a product in the database, which will be a bulk standard pc system, but have option for the customer to customize it to their needs, so at the end you get a final price, which is transfered to the cart

this all works fine, but need to force a new description which will contain all the components they have selected.

Have tried to just send the description variable like the price, but this did not work.

Can you do this by having one product - a custom pc build with all of the compenents being extra fields within that products - that way all and any price variations can be accounted for and all of the details are recorded in the cart/order process?

Set Product Options to yes in the Modules section
Add a new product - called Custom PC Build
Add a new option class for each part of the component for that PC ie:
HD size (with options each showing the price differential over the basic unit/setup)

Then when the customer views this product in the shop they will have several drop down boxes with the available choices and showing the price impact of these.

When they have made their choices and added to cart the decription in the cart and on the order will show all of the options that they have chosen:

eg:

HD 60 GB
Soundblaster Soundcard
Leadtech 4600ti Graphics
etc

ah i see what yu mean

yeah i have coded this part already with realtime price updates etc, but just need to carry over the description of what they have actually ordered
