Thanks. If I thought that this was a bug then I would certainly raise a ticket, but what I've described is an implementation detail and I can't expect them to change their code for free.

I think the following code changes will get me the manufactuers image from the file system instead of the database. Please note that this is off the top of my head and it has not been tested. I need to set up my offline store to test this.

Somewhere within file product.php insert:

$brand_logo_path = func_query("SELECT image_path FROM $sql_tbl[images_M] INNER JOIN manufacturers ON $sql_tbl[manufacturers].manufacturerid='$product_info[manufacturerid]' AND $sql_tbl[images_M].id='$product_info[manufacturerid]'");
/* Assign the location of the image for use within the template */
$smarty->assign("logo_path", $brand_logo_path); 


Then, in file /skin/xtreme_gear/customer/main/product_details2.tpl

FIND:

<img src="image.php?type=M&amp;id={$product.manufacturerid}" alt="{$product.manufacturer}" />

REPLACE WITH:

<img src="$logo_path" alt="{$product.manufacturer}" />

By making this code change the product page will load quicker, which is why I will do this...once I can try it on an offline copy of our store.

I purchased this skin and like it. A few issues though. I have products with options and the ajax cart in the header does not show the options for the product. So if a customer purchases a shirt, blue size small. it only says 'Shirt' and price. If they purchase 5 of the same shirt in different colors, there is no way to see the options.

DavyMac - as you pointed out, the manufacturer logo is an extra addition we included in our template. However we simply use the standard x-cart mechanism to retrieve the image using image.php

image.php will load the image from the file system (or database) it depends where your settings save the images to, based on the manufacturer id - if you prefer, we can send you a small update to load this image directly from the file system.

This causes problems for our customers too, especially those that are buying a lot of duplicate products with different variants - during the buying process the customer loses track of what they've ordered. I've had a few complain about it.

Thanks Will. Within admin I have all image location options set to file system so I'd be very grateful for the update. I'll raise a support ticket for that.

That is stock x-cart behavior, even in 4.6.0
There was a time (about the time 4.1.x dropped in 2006) when variants or options were first included in x-cart, but a certain group of x-cart engineers and support were extremely hostile to variants -- and they still are!

Will, I'll be happy to share screenshots of this with you as well. Unfortunately, it's not in the xcart core, so your template is just taking the xcart data (which is incomplete)and making it pretty.

I am a recent new owner of xTreme and my build-out is almost done -- and I have discovered more than a few "issues" along the way, but for the most part, most are x-cart design (defects) and TXS has graciously helped me work through them.

BUT -- there are more than a few instances where 4.5.4 or 4.5.5 code does not integrate well with xTreme - since some of xTreme was built on 4.5.2 code -- sometimes (usually) it's ok - but there are times when you have to go grab 4.5.4 or 4.5.5 code.

I will be posting my love letter about xTreme soon -- but still have a few more obstacles to overcome.

That looks strange - are you sure you have the correct folder permissions set for your category images? If you would like us to investigate further, can you submit a support ticket here:
support.thexcartstore.com
include your ftp details also, so we can check your setup as this is certainly not a template problem.

If you want the manufacturer's logo on the product page to be loaded from the file system instead of from the database then this code does the trick.

FILE: product.php

Find:
