X-Cart v4.4.1 released

There are multiple problems with the one-page checkout. The trouble is, it appears to be extremely temperemental. I for one only found one bug with it:

If you try to remove 'fax' from the form (by removing it from the 'customer at checkout' and 'customer' signup settings in the admin), the postcode and phone number fields also disappear.

However, there are big problems for sure because multiple customers have reported to us (on a live 4.4.1 store) that the checkout 'apply' and 'submit' buttons either don't work or are not there.

There are probably a number of specific issues that relate to your individual x-cart payment and shipping setups as mentioned previously, but I haven't had any problems there as I don't use the various installed modules for the large US shipping carriers as I run UK stores.

4.4.1 seems otherwise reasonable, with only minor oddities and niggles here and there, but nothing that stops customers ordering, such as one-page checkout.

I wouldn't recommend using it (one page checkout) until it has been properly rewritten by x-cart as it is simply just not afe for your reputation or bank balance.

Use FAST LANE CHECKOUT instead - it converts pretty well and you still get the many other benefits of 4.4.1 over older variations, if you're thinking about upgrading IMHO.

I agree with Donavichi. I have been building a store on 4.4.1 and have found numerous bugs, one page checkout included. I had a similar experience with changing a variant in the cart that had a different price, the cart did not update the new price unless you reloaded the page, not good for business.... Back to fastlane it went. There is also a problem with using paypal pro, you don't get it as a payment option on the one page checkout, on fastlane it's there. When is 4.4.2 due again??

Order edit has a bug. Try to edit a existing order. Add a new product. E.g. a book. Select the option with hardcover which is $5 extra. This $5 extra is not charged when the order is edited!

Seems to be a pretty large bug to me.

Did you report this as a bug at the bug tracker they set up?

Eh no. Wasn't aware they had one. Haven't been on the forum for ages and thought this was the place to reply if you find bugs...

Feels like QT went back to the old way of releasing new versions - it takes few releases before you can call it stable

I agree, I was hoping to use 4.4 for a live store, I hope it does not take until 4.4.8 to actually be stable

I have to say that personally speaking and not that of Firetank Software, a lot of things seem to have to be mentioned from a customer POV and nothing is truly highlighted till a release and then customers and store owner experience gets mentioned. For example take the 4.4.x branch of a release. Not so much out of the blue but no real documentation for DB changes for anyone who developes for x-cart.

4.4.x has been a step forward in a lot of respects, bearing in mind that I was in the era of xcart from 3.3.x

So what id like to ask is that we are all aware of what the other shopping carts offer, what can we say to x-cart to say this is what perhaps the others are offering and is now part of the game, or do we just lie in hope and wait to see what happens with a bit of faith

(please note this post doesn't represent that of FTS but of my own posting ideas.. on this occasion)

there is the ideas website where you can post ideas and others cn vote so QT can see how popular they are.

QT are saying some are complete when they aren't being implemented though, as they say Drupal can do that and you can use Drupal with V5.

It's still a case of lie in hope I think, particularly when important core features such as payment compliance are causing a lot of friction.
