I don't know about x-cart 4.0.19 but 4.1.3.

First go to http://www.x-cart.com/demo/home.php then add something to your cart...Select checkout, New customer? Click here to register. After that when your mouse goes over the Form an underline showing up in all names on the form.

This is due to the <a name="regdlg" id="reg" /> tag used in the hide/display of the form.

Simply add this line to your skin1.css and all will be well again..

#reg_dlg A:hover {text-decoration: none;}

Is anyone so naive that they would invest and develop a store in x-cart without the ability to edit templates (html, css) and take a stab at smarty?

I have been through more than a few carts, and I have yet to find a cart that is "non developer user friendly" that has the power and flexibility the users seem to want.

Non-technical users shouldn't be asking about template editing -- they will be disappointed, unless they want to learn how... and this is the place to start asking questions.

hi all..

Well, this may be a silly question. But I've been following the threads and timelines on the new versions and there's still no 'definitive' statement that says it's time to upgrade. I've been sitting back waiting and watching for some blessing from the X-Cart Gods that says it's safe to jump!

So, when will it be safe to jump? It's probably been 6 months since the new flavor came out, maybe longer. So what's the general concensus? Are we even close to this point?

I have a licence for Fancy Categories but turned it off on good forum advice.

Will Fancy Categories work efficiently in 4.1.3 so we can actually turn it back on and use it?

FC is about 4000+ lines of code.

You can buy PhilJ's 4-level flyout CSS based menu mod that is 20 lines of code + a style sheet.

I tried FC in 4.1.3, and used my 30-day moenyback and got a refund. I am happy with PhilJ's mod.

Safe is a relative term.

If you mean qualified stable version it will be a while.
If you mean most bugs addressed and cart functional with maybe a hack here or there if an issue pops up then now or next release will probably fine for you depending on lots of variable such as do you require third party add ons code to work with this version?

If you compare the same amount of time that has elapsed since 4.1.0 was released compared to the 4.0 branch the 4.0 branch was already past 4.0.12 and was stable by now and we are still only at 4.1.3.

A lot has changed in the 4.1 branch and this may be what is causing the longer release times.
