Keep in mind that the 3x-4x Import is for importing stuff from X-Cart versions prior to 4.1 into 4.1. If you are doing that, then you can see the fields in the export file:

1. Export your 3.x or 4.0 products.
2. Use 3x-4x Import to load those products into your 4.1 store.

Use the checkbox "Get column names from the first row ..."

It sounds like you are trying to use 3x-4x Import to upload a 4.1 import file. It won't work. You will need to use the regular Import area for that.

It's quite straight forward. In the admin, click on Import/Export on the left side. Choose where your file resides then click Import. Otherwise, you may want to check the manual.

4.2 already includes this, the code is located in search.php
