Default X-Cart as a membership database - 3.5.11

HI guys, wanted to drop a line to all - we've made some MAJOR modifications over the last 6 months to one of our x-cart sites - - and I wanted to see if there was any interest in these modifications. These mods were made to version 3.5.11

In a nutshell, we've made our x-cart system act as more of a membership database - - allowing people to not only purchase products, but also purchase memberships, which give them access to special sections, special pricing, etc. These modifications include many different facets to the admin side, as well as the customer side, and are too many to list here - for a complete list or to chat about it, please PM me.

Here is a short list of SOME of the modifications we've made:

1. When a user purchases a membership, upon successful purchase they get the membership status immediately granted in the database. (memberships are actually products) They also get access to a journal that only members get, and this journal has an expiration date written to the database according to the membership signup date.

2. When purchasing a membership, a "join" and "expiration" date automatically get written to the database. We then have a cron script that goes through twice daily and takes away membership levels of expired members.

3. The profile screen has been heavily modified to include all sorts of "membership" information that was pertinent to the company we made the mods for. Certain fields, such as membership level, and join and expiration dates, are not editable by the customer, only the admin.

4. We've made heavy modifications to the user search screen - allowing the staff to search on expiration dates, city, state, zip, a membership level of "none", first name, last name, company, and several of the specialized fields we included into the customer profile screen. You can export any of your search results in a CSV format as well.

5. We've made heavy modifications to the order search screen - allowing you to search on a dropdown list of products and categories that are dynamically generated out of the database. You can also search on company name, first name, last name, city, state, region, and the regular x-cart searches. Again, you can export this in CSV format.

6. We've got several specialized templates that make certain categories of products appear in different manners than regular products. For example, when purchasing a conference, our client wanted people to be able to signup more than themselves for this product, so if the cart detects that a conference product has been added, we have a special button show up that says "add more people" - and along with this, it creates more fields in the database where you can enter a name, address, and pertinent contact info for the person you are purchasing the next product for - this all trickles down to the order reporting and user reporting allowing you to pull reports on how many conference attendees you have, and be able to export those all on their own lines in a CSV format.

7. We've given them the ability to have "multiple profiles" - where 10 people may be under one membership, and when you login, it asks you who you want to be, and you can dynamically create and save profiles for later use under one membership. This aspect is only available to certain types of memberships that may have more than 1 member.

These are just a few of the mods - didn't know if there would be interest or not - but it's become more of a membership database where they can do specialized searches and get the information they need on members, not just orders.

Lemme know if you want more information - I didn't want to write it all down here if there is no interest...

Thanks!
