It would be too much of a distraction for me if they were different heights, the two i got were samsung 913n - but even with the same model there was a difference in brightness (although the first one i got was 6 months earlier so a buildup of grime might be the cause - anyone know whats good and safe to get tobacco/nicotine off an lcd screen)

If all you can get is 60 yr old chics, you got A LOT more problems than I thought!!

I would definately try and get the same model/size...It is a distraction to swap the mouse on 2 different sized monitors...plus having the same model makes it easier to update drivers, etc.

Update drivers? huh?

I know a lot of folks who use their laptop as a second monitor all the time when plugged into a bigger display. I think it depends on the individual. It bugs me but it definitely works for others.

perhaps it wont be that big of an annoyance if i put the smaller monitor on a couple of books or something so that it starts at the same height,

I was half way thinking of buying a new pc, but now I learn that intel is about to release their new processors: intel core 2 and intel core 2 extreme (also know as conroe), which i belive are coming out in july -- so perhaps it is best to wait it out-- what do u think?

Only if you want to pay through the nose for it!!

Can't think of anytime that a new technology has come out that hasn't dropped in price after a good few months

I'm not sure this will be the case. Take a look:

http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20060526-6923.html

Also if u click the discuss link-- it takes you to a messag board thread where people are discussing this new processor.

After reading this I think I am definitely going to have to wait-- as i dont really want to buy a machine with a processor when its 2 months from being completely replaced. Also as I understand it -- it is suppose to be quite a performance step up.
