When a url is modified, it writes the old url to a url history and when the old url is accessed it will automatically do a 301 redirect to the new url (unless you give the old url to a new product).

The best way to block access to any page is using a robots.txt file.

OK, I guess I am a crack head and did not catch that from a prior conversation we had...

That or I kept associating it with the initial transfer.

This actually make this an ultimate tool for the constant tweaking of your category and product URL's !

I cannot stress enough as to how valuable this function really is...

not a problem, I was just hoping to be able to do it via meta tag to keep the robots.txt as clean as possible, lol.

I have a large robots file as it is, so was hoping to be able to do it other way, but it is fine.

I have installed CDSEO PRO..Home page and product pages working fine..In cart page,When i click on continue shopping,it redirect to product.php page ..I got this error "The URL you requested has been blocked. URL = www.xxx.com/home.php?cat=287"..Please any body advice..

By default you should not see this error, it's possible that you have this file blocked outside of CDSEO. If you send us a support ticket I will have a look for you.

The nice thing about having it all in one place is that you won't have any conflicts between the two, or in the future forget that you input code into a .tpl and can't figure out why the page isn't being indexed. If you want to do it in your meta though, this code in skin1/meta.tpl should do the trick:

<meta name="robots" content="noindex, nofollow">
{/if}

Multiple pages:

{if $page_data.pageid eq "X" OR $page_data.pageid eq "XX"}
<meta name="robots" content="noindex, nofollow">
