Please could you let us have a link to an official UK standard with the correct list of the 86 UK postal counties mentioned in the post?

I'd recommend getting it from the horses mouth - the UK post office Royal Mail.

http://postcode.royalmail.com/portal/rm/jump2?catId=400084&mediaId=600131&keyname=PTGAZETT EER

It'll cost you 50 pounds but it is the official listing of Postcode Districts, Post Towns and Former Postal Counties.

You might also want to review "What is a correct Postal Address?" on this page.

Finally! This is excellent news.

I think i am correct in that counties are not required on a postal address,there are 4 things that matter, the house name/number, street, the town and the postcode.

Aberdeen is in Aberdeenshire for example, the postman seeing the Postcode (eg. AB12 0XX) and Aberdeen is not going to really need to see Aberdeenshire... at the same time the shop and the customer realises this is not completely necessary to the delivery label.

UK Postcode generator database like PostcodeAnywhere integration will allow customer to select postcode and it will pull the address up, which prevents mistyping and incorrect entry.

Will this mean the customer can login and check their orders history on the new version with no problems once the upgrade has been applied?

I am thinking it will be wise to upgrade store seperate from live store in case of problem, and then switch over?

That is always prudent.

It depends on custom mods made to your store. In most cases it should work as you have described.

It is the only right way to upgrade your store. Never upgrade "live" stores!

What I'd love to see:
customer order search by name or order number
export orders to warehouse with configurable xml or csv file
webmaster mode applicable to the links showing on the fulfillment side of the cart also
template file search: locate template files by name

For this, see the mod here... http://forum.x-cart.com/showthread.php?t=26660

I used the mod in post #21 and it has become the most useful mod ever, and I have tried a lot of them! Remember to include the "ifs" as discussed in post #18

Please include in final release more order status like canceled, shipped, ... Also it would be nice to have the ability to apply"backordered" status of part of the order as a standart cart behaviour

Current Problems:

1. Its asking me to change passwords when I click Add New Product

a. I've already changed the pass
b. I have no categorys
edit: c. I added a category its still asking me when just clicking add new product

2. Not all the Javascript is put in another file

a. I know there are errors when certain javascript files get placed externally
b. Lines 10 - 19

Code:
<script type="text/javascript"> <!-- var number_format_dec = '.'; var number_format_th = ''; var number_format_point = '2'; var store_language = 'US'; var xcart_web_dir = ""; var images_dir = "/skin1/images"; var lbl_no_items_have_been_selected = 'No items have been selected'; var current_area = 'C'; -->
You can't work around this?!

3. Lines 24 - 29

This code:
Code:
<!--[if lt IE 7]> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/skin1/main.IE6.css" /> <![endif]--> <!--[if lt IE 8]> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/skin1/main.IE7.css" /> <![endif]-->

If you properly design your style sheets you would not need these. Please tell me what are you trying to work around! I can supply a fix.

4. Wtf more of this:
Code:
<img class="icon" src="/skin1/images/spacer.gif" alt="Your cart" />

Please remove them there are better ways to place a space.

5. No To Do List etc. There should be a list of things the shop owners should go over, it's embarressing when certain options are not set properly.

I'll add more later

Edit: 7. Page Titles should be Page Title - Blah - Blah not Page Title :: Blah :: Blah
