We are glad to announce that X-Cart v4.5.1 has been recently released. It is available for downloading in the "File area" section in your HelpDesk account at https://secure.qtmsoft.com or at http://www.x-cart.com/download.html

New features:

• Add To Cart Popup - allows your customers to see what they have added to cart along with products you want to upsell. The pop-up works on all pages where ╚Buy now╩ button is available. It is also great for up-selling as ╚You may also like╩ section may include either products bought together with the product added to cart or random products or a combination of the above two options.

• EU Cookie Law solution ≈ as you know, from 25 May 2012, European laws dictate that ╚explicit consent╩ must be gathered from web users who are being tracked via text files called ╚cookies╩. Our team has implemented built-in X-Cart EU Cookie Law module. It's disabled by default and can be enabled on the Modules page in admin area.

• Integration with AlliedWallet recognized as one of the world's leading providers of online credit card processing, multi-currency merchant services, state-of-the-art payment processing, digital eWallet solutions, and a PCI Level One payment gateway. Allied Wallet has a current wallet user base of about 31 million people and processes 164 currencies worldwide.

Besides the above X-Cart v4.5.1 comes with minor Improvements, bug fixes and code optimizations for even better performance. E.g. one of the minor improvements relates to One Page Checkout process. We took our customers' suggestions into consideration and changed the ╚Apply╩ button to ╚Continue╩ on the modify profile page which makes the process more obvious. Also, we updated the CyberSource - Hosted Order Page integration and converted ZIP code to 5-digit format for USPS module. Built-in CloudZoom module loads the first detailed image by default now (instead of the main product image).

Steve, you have reported a few bugs for the last available version of XC. Hope you will find them solved. If you do an investigation and have some thoughts please let us know how the things are going.

Hope to see my bugs solved in the next version 4.5.2 too!

Yes, they are supposed to be ready in about a week or even earlier.

A standard upgrade procedure intends that you upgrade from one major branch to another (from 4.4.5 to 4.5.0) and then upgrade within a branch (4.5.0 -> 4.5.1)

Woohoo. I just did a little dance!

I LOVE the Add To Cart pop up. I was going to try a third party ap for that.

Qualiteam, expect my ordering of an upgrade for one 4.4.3 store to this latest branch.

Also, I'm planning an upgrade from a 4.1.11 for another store.

I'm basically doing a fresh install and starting from scratch and then paying someone to perform the final upgrade for me. What I would like to do though is to take a copy of my current 4.1.11 database and connect it to a new 4.5.1 test version while I build.

Is that something I can do myself? HOw easy is it to upgrade a database for a later version?

You have to upgrade the 4.1.11 database to 4.5.1 - you cannot use it the way it is right now. And don't use live db for testing, make a copy of it
