Thumbs up X is still king.

Sure there are issues, no package or platform is perfect. But X-cart still rules the roost IMO. I have spent some time working with other packages recently, Magento and Pinnacle, and I have to say that X blows them both away. Not only is it easier to customize (logic and skin), the finished product just looks and works better. I've been considering which cart to go with for a new personal store that I am building, and I have decided to stick with X.

Pinnacle has got some nice stuff, in a few years they may be able to compete. LC3/XC5 also may be all it is cracked up to be, but I have yet to see it perform for a large store with lots of custom requirements. Magento is ugly in every way, I feel so sorry for the folks that are trapped in its little circle. Don't believe the hype! I agree it is an enterprise-class solution, but you need enterprise-size budgets to deal with its headaches.

Rock on QT! X has several more years of life left. I am so happy to have X in my bag of tricks. It deserves an award.

Mike your opinion is welcome. Beyond the enthusiasm or personal feelings a lot of things are not functioning so great. QT is still far away from community, we don't know what is going on with new versions, support points, and so on.

P.S. If other funs of their shopping carts will see your post (e.g. Magento Community) this thread will burn.

Overall, I agree.
I have a friend who spent a few hundred hours trying to start a Magento store. For a number of reasons, he failed.

Nothing! It's the other way around.

Pinnacle is PA-DSS certified, and a nice cart all around. If PA-DSS is your main concern, it is a fine solution. But X-cart has many more features, and lots more add-ons and mods. Pinnacle is still growing up, IMO.

Not sure you are really familiar enough with that cart to make this kind of statement Mike - but this isn't the place to discuss such things.

Too true, this is just my opinion after working with it for a few months. You certainly have more experience with both platforms.
