Process Zero total cart order
We have a need to process a ZERO fiscal amount cart order.
However, the cart will not allow this to be processed (as the cart has no value), and so would like to ask if anyone knows of an option to allow this please?

To append: the Cart & checkout > Customer Zone settings > Minimum allowed order subtotal, is already at 0.
The 'Place Order' button is thus disabled.

This seems more of an issue in that if a product has a zero cost value, it cannot be included in the cart (and allow the cart order to be placed).
It must be possible to do this, such as a free issue item at no cost, that appears on the order. Any help would be appreciated.

Could you please clarify a bit where this need comes from? What is its real-life use-case?

We just ran into something similar with 4.1 when selling a free Egood. That seems like a valid scenario.

Yes giving away pin codes or downloadable products is a perfect example.
Often you want to force the checkout process in order to capture the user's contact info. So rather than just linking to the free product, you make them checkout for $0. Now the customer is in your database and accustomed to your checkout process.

Our specific issue was addressed in 4.2 so we backported to 4.1, but this situation confirmed a need for processing $0 orders.
It's possible this issue has been resolved with the addition of this setting at the very bottom of the Payment Methods page: Use this payment method for orders with zero total cost |
