Re: Migrating Users to 5.x without passwords
This thread is about the closest I can find to my dilemma. We have something like 1000 customers - many of them grumpy old tech-resistant men - and some that don't even have email. Many have been logging in forever using login and password. So now I've had the x-cart team (thanks) migrate all these customers to x5 - but they can't use their login credentials to log in to their account..
My first question (dreaming) is has anyone figured out a way to let customers log in with their old credentials. If not, I'm trying to find a way to break it to them that they'll have to remember the email account they used in the 4.x store - have a password reset sent to it (if they still have that account) and then how to track the customers who have no email account (have always just used phone orders for instance). I can't be the first one to go through this moment of panic and disbelief. Thanks for any guidance.

Re: Migrating Users to 5.x without passwords
Hi!
You can send the link to reset the password to users having an e-mail. The link is [your_site]/cart.php?target=recover_password As for users without an e-mail: you may have to edit them one by one, change their e-mail to yours, reset the password yourself and then return the e-mail address back.

Re: Migrating Users to 5.x without passwords
Just wondering why the link still uses "recover password" when nothing will be recovered? "recover" implies existing password will be send to user's email address. What actually is happening the existing password is being replaced with new one ("reset"). So why XC still uses this wording which was actual like 5-6 years ago and not since then?

Re: Migrating Users to 5.x without passwords
Everywhere X-Cart uses the "reset the password" wording:
http://demostore.x-cart.com/?target=recover_password The only place where you can find "recover" word is just the link itself that is there several years since LC2.x (that is the grandfather of XC5 ) Anyway, this discussion is a bit off-topic to this forum thread.
