Anyone using Amember with X-cart to get subscriptions working?
Hi guys,
I took some time to look into how to set up subscription services but found that the subscription module is quite functionless and: 1) doesn't allow for different priced options of a service that then changes the subscription fee (only the set up price) 2) can't work with a basic paypal setup. I saw amember mentioned and remembered dabbling with this about four years ago and remembered it worked fine with subscription services using paypal's basic starter package. Does anyone use amember to overcome the issues of x-cart's current subscription module for their own needs? Is this the best way to get subscription services for electronically downloadable goods on the web? Any ideas around this subject would be appreciated, thank you. Guy

Re: Anyone using Amember with X-cart to get subscriptions working?
I would love to hear anything on this subject. I am in desperate need to know if x-cart has funtionality with amember or is there any other solution that works with x-cart to allow subscription and recurring billing.
What I know is Paypal's Payments Pro with PayFlow Edition 2.0 upgrade (new combination) does have a Subscribe and Recurring Billing Option for +$30 more per month (above the current $30 monthly for Payments Pro). This of course would not require processing through x-cart -- I don't think. I also know amember site indicates only usernames and passwords are integrated with xcart. To me this means, a person can use the same username and password for the Store (x-cart) and the Member Only site. I am a lay person, so please understand my knowledge of technical aspects is not strong. Dr. Phil

Re: Anyone using Amember with X-cart to get subscriptions working?
I know of a site on the amember forum that presents itself as having done a nice x-cart / amember integration but I think it is nothing more than the standard as you have described. There is a mod bolt on to amember so that it can use the x-cart member db which is the main thing. I see in my business subscribers as a different customer base.. within reason... to those that purchase so the lack of full integration is not so much a problem. I plan to purchase and install amember (they do the install for you btw) in September if you are interested.

Re: Anyone using Amember with X-cart to get subscriptions working?
Ive just got amember installed and am going through the integration now. I will let you know. I have purchased a mod for x-cart to 'integrate' to amember but all it does is share the same user list, so orders and products are separate. However, depending on exactly what you want, there are ways to get around this. Currently I am looking into making amember pop up in the x-cart page rather than having to get the customer to open up a new separate page.
