This appears after uploading the distributive and going to the patch/upgrade center. Is there something I need to do after I upload the files but before I implement the patch?
Make sure the perl path is properly set at the bottom of General Settings.

This has always been left blank, without issue. So I entered the path manually, /usr/bin/perl still have the same error.

Are you suggesting that the error I am seeing has to do with my server, not the upgrade?

I think I found the problem. The upgrade program is looking for the file patch.pl in the xcart directory, and it wasn't there. So I found one from the 4.0.12-13 upgrade and placed it in the xcart directory.

Now I can run the 4.0.16-17 patch. I looked at the patch.pl file from 4.0.12-13 and it doesn't appear to be specific to that upgrade, just coding for running patches.

Should work (always a backup if not)

Deleting a category in the admin produces an SQL error.

Code:
DELETE FROM WHERE cat='249'

for example. I have a couple other people telling me the same thing.

Hmm. I had to back off this upgrade. After running the patch numerous files had to be patched manually, which I did. But then there were some errors when attempting to add items to the cart or modify a profile.

I'm going to stay with 4.0.16 for now.

I was wondering, when we have files that cannot be patched, is it possible to get those files from xcart as they should look after being patched? Just a thought. Thanks.

I am just going through the upgrade process myself on my test store and noticed I did have a great deal of files that are in need of manually patching. A little cumbersome but managed to take good notes on all mods I previously made on our live site finally upgraded to 4.16.

Now I am down to my last file the "func.php" that for some reason will not patch so I will have to do a side by side comparison to see what may be the hang up. Have to be really careful with that file, thats for sure.

One file left to go. Always fun!
