We are glad to announce that from now on we officially announce X-Cart 4.0.x branch stable and recommend X-Cart version 4.0.12 or higher for building live online stores. However this does not mean that older versions are abandoned, their support will be substantially continued.

I'd have to second that. I just went live with our new store http://ride.aerostich.com and there are no glaring problems, just mostly places for improvement.

I've taken 220 orders since friday and no problems to report.

BTW it's actually 4.0.10 that we are on.

Love to hear those news and I would love to upgrade, my question is just if we now can expect some kind of tool to upgrade a 3.5.14 (being the latest stable) database as well? As I would hate to type all that information in again, even if it would be by copy and paste.

An other thought, is it OK with the license to install and run a none public version of 4.0.x alongside 3.5.14 while preparing for the switchover? Better ask before doing somethings that might violating the license :P

Jump upgrade patches from 4.0.0 - 4.0.11 to 4.0.12 and database migration tool from 3.5.14 to 4.0.12 will come in a short while.

Its been discussed numerous times and it is well known that it is legal to run one non public development copy of X-Cart per each license that you have.

a database only patch from 3.4.latest would also be a welcome addition and any other earlier ones for that matter.

this would help bring many people all up to the same place
