Default Special Offers

I am evaluating X-cart 4.3 and I would like to be able to provide free shipping for our customers if they order more than 100 dollars of product AND the total shipping weight is 10 pounds or less.

I looked at the demo of the Special Offers module and it seems that I can create a special offer to give customers free shipping if a customer buys more than 100 dollars of product, but there is no way to also place a limit on the weight.

Is this possilble in Xcart to create a special offer with 2 parameters: amount of the order and shipping weight?

Hi Willy,

Welcome aboard! Thank you for taking interest in our software and services.

You are going to have a very interesting special offer.

Unfortunately, you are right that X-SpecialOffers is not capable of offering free shipping if a customer's order weighs more than X pounds. X-SpecialOffer just doesn't have weight conditions at all.

Some customization is needed to have it and I fear I can't find appropriate mod in X-Cart Marketplace Add-ons category.

I am sorry that our X-SpecialOffers can't help without customization.

You are welcome to ask any questions here!

Alex

Thanks Alex, I have seen this same promotion on another website and it would be good for us also because we have a few heavy products and I don't want people to use this offer to load up on these and raise the total shipping cost.

My next question is... is this type of offer something that X-SpecialOffers could do with some modification? I would be willing to pay to have that done, if possible.

вам спасибо,

Willy

Hi Willy -

Sorry if I misunderstand your question - but are you saying that "free shipping for orders >$100 and <10lbs" will always apply to the items in your store?

If so - then you don't need to use Special Offers mod to do that - you can just set up shipping charges for a shipping method to do that. You can advertise it as a special - but it is just your standard shipping charges for a particular shipping method. It will not be as simple to turn it on and off as you might with onsale or special offers mods - but you can set it up in the shipping charges for any shipping method - then set it back to normal shipping rates when your offer is done.

It gets more complex if you need it to be a special or sale that only applies to certain items or categories - but if it applies to everything in your shop, and you don't have too many shipping methods to modify, I am not sure why you need a special mod.

In the demo, in the admin, select Shipping Charges - you can see that you can set a free rate for orders based on price and weight range.

@gb2world - thank you so much for this advice! I have to admit that an X-Cart powered merchant with several years of experience with X-Cart knows X-Cart better than X-Cart Sales dept. manager (i.e. me)

Willy, if you are going to have "free shipping for orders >$100 and <10lbs" and not going to use real-time shipping calculation in X-Cart you can use manual shipping fees configuration.

However, this is not going to work if you are going to use real-time shipping fees calculation.

Also, if you would like to receive our quotes please post your quote request using our request for quote form. One of our project managers will get back to you via our HelpDesk system.

Default Re: Special Offers

I am having the same problem with the special offers except I am not putting a weight limit on it, I am putting a geographical region restriction.
--I want to offer free shipping for all orders over $100 to all customers in the United States. The module has the options to set all that up but it is not applying. Is there a trick to activating it other than marking it as active?
The website URL is curriculumexpress.com
Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Amy,

X-SpecialOffers should be able to do what you need, i.e.:

> Offer free shipping for all orders over $100 to all customers in the United States.

If it doesn't work in your case I advise you to contact our techs for help via your HelpDesk account as it seems to be either an improper configuration of the add-on or a bug.

In case of bug you will get a free patch to fix it as it is a part of our guarantee for X-Cart.

Default Re: Special Offers

I am currently using X Cart Version 4.4.1 with the Special Offers Module and am struggling a bit.

Basically, I'm trying to give a $15.00 discount to the total order if a customer orders a certain number of a product. For example, if they order 10 units of product X, then they'll receive $15 off.

It seems like there should be a way of doing this. Unfortunately, the only thing I can get is a discount of $15 on each product. So the customer receives $15.00 off every one of the 10 units.

Anyone out there know what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks in advance,
J

One other thing: lower priority - is there a way to do this and mix products? So if product X and product Y total count = 10, then apply a $15 discount?

The special offers system that comes with X-Cart imo is significantly broken. We had to completely re-write it to get it to work the way it was originally intended to. You'd be best off using the mod available from AlteredCart
