We have added the checking in the new version.

Thank you.

We had a straightforward upgrade today from 4.7.5 to 4.7.6 with no errors or problems.

However, I decided to try PHP7 this evening and our site is now down with an HTTP 500 error.

To upgrade from PHP5.4 to PHP7 I went through our service providers cPanel where there is a simple option to choose your PHP version.

I asked my service provider to put us back to 5.4 and the site is now back online. They are going to check the logs at their end.

As an afterthought, are there any settings or configuration changes we should have made to x-cart for the upgrade to PHP7?

Most likely one or more of 3rd party modules you have is failing under PHP 7 due to encryption

I decided not to go 4.7.4 to 4.76 and do 4.7.5 instead which went ok, no problems..

Thanks - it looks as though it might be the external xBanner2 module which is causing the problem under PHP7.

I have sent a message to their support and will let you know the outcome.

Our site is running very well under 4.7.6 even without PHP7, but I hope we can implement the extra speed boost from PHP7 without any reliability issues.

Has anyone else got 4.7.6 running with PHP7 ?

Here's the response from The xCart Store:

"Our products are not compatible with PHP 7. It will take time to update the code of all our products and then re-encrypt for PHP 7. Unfortunately we have no time to do it in the nearest future. We recommend to use PHP 5.3 - 5.6. Also note, if you upgrade the PHP from one version to another you should also upgrade the ionCube loader."

I think we are probably wasting our time trying to use PHP7, unless someone can suggest alternative banner software that is compatible?

As far as I know none of the 3rd party modules are PHP7 ready. I have not tested mine but at least they are not encrypted anymore so can easily be adapted if anything.

With the rest of the 3rd party modules anyone using XC4 with PHP 7 is probably out of luck - alteredCart is no more and their modules will not be updated for sure, TXS - you said it, BCSE - I am pretty sure they will do this on request but other than that not hoping for it soon, SM - Jon has a big announcement to make which I suspect is dropping XC support so....

The only other Banner system I know of is the built-in one as Cherie mentioned. Unless you ask a developer to build you one from scratch.

I'm interested to hear how X-Cart is helping developers add PHP 7 support, maybe in the dev forum.

Thanks - We are keen to give PHP 7 a try but it does not warrant the $300 upgrade cost to Gold Plus to get a working banner.
