Default Serving Static Content from Multiple Static Domains

So Pingdom is suggesting that to improve site speed I should serve static content from a cookie-less domain and to set up parallel hostnames to speed up content delivery. These all sound great - anyone have a clue how to do that?

Also, has anyone modified XCart so it stores image names as written in the file system instead of the cryptic names that are given? I understand the file names can help improve SEO performance.

Thanks all!

This thread has an awesome free mod to handle the parallelizing.

I also am looking for information about the cookieless domain fix.

I found these links to be helpful:

Serving resources accross several domains:

Serving Product Images on a different domain (with clean URLS):

Use MaxCDN content delivery network. There are threads on here describing how. Server all your images from there and speed up your site.

The easiest way to achieve this is to create a subdomain and point it to your main domain via CNAME using DNS settings. Follow this step by step guide to create a cookieless domain to server static content. You may also use CDN to avoid this warning.
