With XC 4.5.5 installed and us beginning to use more subcategories on our store, we've come to realize the breadcrumbs used are not very helpful when it comes to product pages.

For example, if we have a product's main/default category as C1 and it is also in an additional category C2.

When a customer gets to the product through C2, while the customer is viewing that product, the breadcrumb trail wants to automatically take it to it's main/default category (C1). This can be confusing to a customer, because although the product is in C1, they visited the product page by going to C2, why would they want to back-trace to a category they didn't come from?

I'm guessing this is a lot of work, but is there a way to change how breadcrumbs work with product pages? With category pages they work as they should, but it seems the product page is automatically creating breadcrumbs of only the products main/default category, and not taking into consideration the actual trail a customer used to get to the product.

It uses the product's main category. This may be addressed by the CDSEO module.

CDSEO doesn't seem to change the way breadcrumbs works, but we did ask BCS Engineering if their Adv. Breadcrumbs module will work with 4.5, they are currently looking at updating it so it does work with 4.5.x-4.6.x

EDIT: We purchased and installed this module, and it's great! Works exactly how breadcrumbs are made to work. X-Cart breakcrumbs would've gotten Hansel and Gretel lost! This fixes that
