Hello
Has anyone set up their store using categories with pics as the main welcome page? Maybe 3 columns with 9 or 12 categories.
I was thinking about creating a new tpl file set up like this that I could call up when needed and change easily to a special offer. tpl as and when needed.
I think the template to substitute/modify is customer/main/welcome.tpl ?
and call it via customer/home/main

Yep, we've hard-coded that before using welcome.tpl, but you can also customize it to work like featured products.

Hardcoded sounds good to me
I did this once with an earlier version adding pics and column format to the cats and subcats.
Any chance of posting that code or I don't mind paying a few bucks for a complete tpl

We hard coded it in welcome.tpl with a table. Not very elegant but it was quicka nd easy to implement and change. As we don't change categories very often it's no big deal.

I had a go trying to do it with CSS but it isn't that easy for me and when i did manage to get the 3 column format it screwed the flyout menu.
I'll go for the table layout as it seems seems simple.
Going to try and call the images through xcart system rather than hard coding the image url
