Abandoned Cart Weak Point
This would apply to both XC4 and XC5 versions. If you have regular customers, some of them will figure out that they can get a discount if they abandon the cart and wait a day or two for the abandoned cart email to come in. These folks compromise the whole system really. I've got probably a dozen of them (using XC5 now) that do that so I've turned the thing off for awhile.
My suggestion, in case the developer is reading this, is to add either a switch or box which will limit the number of uses for any particular customer. This would make a huge difference really...

How would you handle the case when the same customer registers a lot of user accounts and gets the discount multiple times? Or just places every order as a guest customer without registering an account? |

Re: Abandoned Cart Weak Point
Well, that's a good set of questions. However, I doubt it would happen because the customer would have to know in advance that they only get one shot at using abandoned cart discount, and I don't plan on telling them should this ever come possible.
What they do now abandon the cart, then get a discount email soon afterwards. Yes, I do end up recovering a lot of orders that way. But from then on, they never forget this and abandon it on purpose afterwards. If that discount email never shows, I guess they might consider making another account, but I doubt most would.

Re: Abandoned Cart Weak Point
Hello Kevin,
Thank you for the feedback! I agree with you and will think about getting some kind of protection implemented in future versions of the module. |

Re: Abandoned Cart Weak Point
Bump: This continues to be a chronic problem. I had a guy buy an item today, he used loyalty points, plus he abandoned his cart on purpose to get further discount. He almost got it for free.
There needs to be some way to limit number of uses of abandoned cart issued coupons to registered users. They are smart - they figure out the system on do it on purpose. This ties up inventory, wastes our time, and we lose money overall. The purpose of this should be to recover a cart by someone who couldn't decide, not to reward those who are cheap. Note: It's unlikely registered customers would simply create abandoned carts because then they would be ineligible to receive loyalty points. If this cannot be done, there there is no further point to use this module, at least for issuing coupons.

Re: Abandoned Cart Weak Point
The module can probably be easily modified and make it optional in admin to do simple check on customer data . If login or billing or shipping address or some other piece of info that can be unique matches abandoned cart coupons for the last 12 months (maybe optional config value) do not issue new coupon, just email.

Re: Abandoned Cart Weak Point
Hello Kevin,
Currently I'm working on another module and have no time for a complex improvement. However, I believe that a simple checkbox (in module settings) that limits the number of coupons to one per registered customer will work for you. This is something that can be implemented somewhat quick. Just wanted to confirm it with you before starting coding it |

Re: Abandoned Cart Weak Point
Hello Kevin,
Please upgrade to the 5.2.9 version of the module. I've added a new module setting (checkbox) that prevents the module from generating more than one coupon per user profile. This should help. |

Re: Abandoned Cart Weak Point
Where is that checkbox? I'm not seeing it anywhere…
I tried to install it, it stalled out on step 3. Then I reloaded and it shows installed but I don't see any checkbox anywhere. PHP error log: [error, Dec 14 2015 23:23:49] Marketplace [check_addon_key]: error code ( 1028 ) : Addon with specified license key (my key) is not found

It should be in the module settings along with the setting that configures the time needed for a cart to show up as abandoned. Quote:
I'm not sure what the error is. It looks like your XC5 tried to install a module that is missing in the marketplace. |
