Not ranked by relevancy to the search term or sales or popularity.

CloudSearch may return 10 items, sorted by relevancy, but search will return 17 items - with no logic to the display order.

I own AlteredCart Smart Search -- I may turn it back on for when the customer presses the search button. Didn't even think about this until just now. Thanks!

Have you seen my PM?

Hi guys,

I would like to announce that the 1.2.1 release is available both in File area and also via http://cloudsearch.x-cart.com/static/cloudsearch-xcart.tgz.

This is more of a bugfix release and it contains fixes for the following problems:

- Some products with variants that are actually out of stock were mistakenly displayed by CloudSearch (despite the corresponding setting in the admin area).
- Smarty tags are now parsed and CloudSearch indexes the parsed page contents (if smarty tags parsing is enabled in X-Cart general settings, of course).

You don't need to re-install the module, just overwrite the files (do not forget to make a backup of your custom css!).

Thanks for listening, see you at the next release

Hi Nikita,

Thank you!
Just to let you know, the file was not yet available in my file area (actually, no versions of cloudsearch are in my file area??) but the link worked fine.

Thanks!
Jeremy

Dear CloudSearch users:

May I ask how you are formatting the cloudsearch results on a mobile template?

Please PM me with a link if you have an interesting way to display cloudsearch results.

I'm looking for all possible ideas...

Thanks,

J

Dear Nikita,

Can you tell me if the cloudsearch server has a fixed IP?
My analytics are logging daily visits from a server in Essen, Germany that must be cloudsearch.
I would love to slap an IP filter on the cloudsearch server IP in google analytics.
Yes?

Thx
J

Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for pointing it out, we will fix the availability of CloudSearch distributions in file area shortly.

And yes, our indexing server has a fixed IP.

Can you share the IP address with me via PM? I'd like to exclude it from GA logging.
Thanks!

Hi Nikita,

I am optimizing my site for speed -- and Google is telling me I have more than one version of jquery.min.js -- one of the duplicates was CloudSearch.

i already have the Google CDN jquery 1.8.3 loading in
/skin/common_files/customer/service_js.tpl

https://developers.google.com/speed/libraries/devguide#jquery

So - in file
/skin/common_files/modules/Cloud_Search/customer_js.tpl

I commented out
Code:
{* {load_defer file="modules/Cloud_Search/js/jquery-1.7.2.min.js" type="js"} *}
but that broke my site...
ah -- need to also comment out
Code:
{* {load_defer file="modules/Cloud_Search/js/jquery-no-conflict.js" type="js"} *}

And things appear to be working.
DO YOU SEE ANY ISSUES using jquery version 1.8.3 from the google CDN? is there a reason for 1.7.2 and not 1.8.3 in your distribution?

http://encosia.com/3-reasons-why-you-should-let-google-host-jquery-for-you/

May I ask why you have a version of jquery in the cloudsearch distribution?

Every 95k (and a round trip to the server) that isn't loading makes for a faster site...

Yes?

Hi Jeremy,

The reason that the standalone version of jQuery is included into CloudSearch distribution is that it needs to work with X-Cart 4.4.0 - 4.6.0. Some older versions of X-Cart have older jQuery versions and even newer versions of jQuery can potentially break the code.

I wouldn't advise everyone to remove that included jQuery library. The more that performance gain is not that much - X-Cart's javascript optimization tool will combine all the .js into one file (there's no time spending on roundtrip for that single js file). But if it works for you, you can use it of course.

If I was running my own X-Cart site, I would probably have the same concern about duplicated libraries and I would probably try to get rid of that. But on the other hand the connector module should be robust enough to work in the diverse environment of different X-Cart versions (not to mention custom skins).

One of the solutions that would satisfy both sides is to load the dependencies asynchronously and conditionally. It will speed up the initial page load and will give us more control on what scripts must be loaded in some specific environment. It's planned.
