Hi Everyone,

Advance announcement about X-Cart Beer meeting 2014 in Chicago:

Thursday June 12th 2014 at 7pm CDT at the Bedford bar.

Initially we are going to have it at the same place where it took place previous 2 times - the Bedford bar, we hope to book their "Safe" room - but if we find other venue we will update you (anyone who knows Chicago well is welcome to recommend a venue!).

I'll prepare registration site later this week and post an official announcement here in forums.

Although my opinion doesn't matter as I have only been to 1 Beer Meeting, and maybe I'm just an old fart, but I think the Bedford was obnoxiously loud... even the "safe" room. My opinion only -- we're a group that should be able to talk without screaming.
If there is any chance of an alternate venue that has a lower ambient volume level, I'm all for it. But as I said, my opinion is worthless as it's your party.

PS -- thank you for doing this earlier in the week. Having to stay an extra night in Chicago last year and fly home on Sunday added to time/expense away from home.

A good note, Jeremy! We will do our best to find a better place, but since we are no locals in Chicago it is a bit hard for us. I hope someone from Chicago here can suggest something. We are opened to advices with this and as I said - the venue can be changed.

Although I won't be there (most likely) Jeremy is right - it was way too loud. For what the purpose of the meeting is I also think quieter place even with some seating is way better.
Don't know Chicago either but I am pretty sure you will get at least a few recommendations here for different places...

Yes it was very hard to talk and communicate there. Which is what I think the purpose of it is. I'll ask some friends in Chicago what they'd recommend.

Been to both, loved each. The first (in the safe room) was nice as it was a space away and it did actually dampen the regular noise a little. The second was in the public area and it was a busy night with various parties going on. Harder to talk, but it was manageable.

Maybe a few posts on Facebook will do the trick on finding a different venue. I liked the venue at the bank, but once inside, it's no different than any other bar It definitely needs to be in a public setting though and not in the meeting room/banquent room of a Ramada Inn. That said, the bar at the Hilton was a pretty hopping place!

I plan to be there, and likely Kim (wife) will be going also and making a weekend of it!

I enjoyed the venue last time, it was fun! But I agree that serious conversations were hard. Maybe it needs to be a two part event, first we talk, then we go party!
