Yea, I think I need some clarity here as I was always told to remove any mention of other carts. If we can discuss them openly, it will make this a MUCH better forum IMHO.

Deep in one wish list thread (I think post 382 of this thread http://forum.litecommerce.com/showthread.php?t=45334) there was an announcement regarding being able to meantion other carts.

I got to admit that I thought the 'no mention of other carts' was, Frankly, childish.

X-cart is a market leader, it doesn't have anything to worry about.
But the truth is, some other carts do some things better. Surely if we discus this in detail and openly admit another cart does something else better we can actually move x-cart towards the required improvements.

I agree with Padraic.

ABSOLUTE banishment of comparisons to other carts, in context of "Volusion does this, can I do this in X-Cart?" should be more than acceptable.

I can totally understand the X-Cart management not wanting their forum to be used as a promo tool for other carts. Absolutely. But there are frequently times when comparisons MUSt be made -- and since X-Cart is rich with features, at a very attractive price, only the most insecure manager at Qualiteam would have issue with an honest comparison.

The "line in the sand" must be BLATANT plug or shilling for another cart vs. honest comparisons -- or support for migration or integration.

The fact that someone could not come here and ask, "my cart was in OSC, and I need assistance migrating my products..." is simply ridiculous. Are we really that insecure?

X-Cart has nothing to fear from honest comparisons or competition. As long as this forum is not used for blatant shilling, there should not be any reason to ban these discussions. Just my opinion.

I saw 3dcart in a subject which had me instantly confused as to why the thread was here still

A little common sense should prevail...

If QT doesn't like how the mods are policing the site, they can remove the mods and do it all in-house.

And watch how quickly things disintegrate. The community would evaporate. Along with their sales.

I updated the forum rules. Competitor's solutions can be mentioned in this section, i.e. in "X-Cart forums > Planning Your Project > Considering using X-Cart for my project" for the purpose of considering X-Cart for a new project. Direct or hidden promos will be removed anyway.

Perhaps I'm just being an idiot, but I'm looking at http://forum.x-cart.com/showthread.php?t=4812 and only see allowed mentions of other carts in the wishlist area.
Not updated yet or just wrong thread?
