Default why is title, first and last name displaying in the checkout

When a user gets to the checkout stage (without loggin in or registering) the members registration is displayed.

Can anyone explain to me the following:

1. why is the title, first and last name fields displayed in the billing section

2. how to get rid of them as title, first and last name fields are already being displayed in the personal information section.

3. why users can't register in the check-out process when firstname and lastname are required fields. (just tested this one on another one of our shopping cart sites... I'm not sure if this is because of one of my many hacks or just the combination of fields that I'm using. None of the shipping address fields are turned on for a start).

What version are you using? Your signature doesn't really specify.

You can remove the first name and last name from the billing info by editing main/register_billing_address.tpl.

I'm using version 4.0.13 - it's a fresh install... heavily modified.

I used the following code from Boomer to use two email fields to try and minimise the idiot factor when users register, works like a charm...

However I'm not sure I've got in 100% right as the validation is stopping the registration process in the check out, I've probably overlooked some of the code to use. I will let you know how I go.

After some testing on a clean x-cart installation (no mods) I couldn't replicate this issue.

In order to allow users to register via the checkout I had to remove a couple of lines of code in the include/register.php that was asking for the validation of b_lastname and b_firstname... even though they were not being used.

I can only assume that somewhere in my mad tinkering with x-cart's code I've broken something that is effecting the registration of users in the checkout process.

Thanks for the tip about removing the fields from the template! Worked like a charm.
