Question Forum Search

Sorry if this has already been asked, but how the heck does the search function of this forum work? I can't find anything! I want it to search for all of the words that I type in, not just one of them. I get so many results that it's impossible to find anything of relevance. So I'm wondering if there's a trick that I'm missing? I tried using and statements and quotation marks. Any ideas?

Go to this url:

Add yourself to the Expert group, and you'll be able to do boolean fulltext searches.

Yes! This is great, but now for the big question: Why is this not just default behaviour?

Just what is the reason for us having to join a group when it should be basic/default settings?

Thanks Jon!

I sorta wondered that myself... You would think this would be default so New people to the forums would find the information they need w/o having to post a new thread... When the questions they are asking have been answered many times on other threads.

Owell :/

I prefer the option of both being available to me. I normally refer to old threads so I know the keywords to search for and using Google often already has me searching without using boolean. When new issues arises I can narrow down my search based on searches without boolean. It works rather well this way though I'm not sure if there are other goals behind making you join a group in order to use the search.

Well, that's a nice question !
What really made me wonder is that e-mail notifications about private messages are not turned on by default either !
I got used to e-mail notifications in old forum, which was based on phpBB. After a lot of requests we migrated the forums to vBulletin, I did not bother to check my profile settings. And this resulted in missing some private messages because I got no notifications about them.
