Default Help with the help zone!

As far as I can see (from a quick search) xcart don't even mention the help zone in their manual which is a bit strange!

Anyway in the admin section you can enable a static page, or you can select the radio box to 'show link'. I can't seem to see any difference between these options! If I enable 'show link' then the page appears in the help menu and the help zone. If I disable 'show link' the page disappears from both places - the same happens when enabling or disabling a page.

Ideally I'd like it so that when you deselect 'show link' it is removed from the menu, but still appears in the help zone - and when you disable a page it is removed from both.

Would be most grateful for any ideas!

Static pages are not necessarily intended to be just help pages. You can make any sort of static page.

The show link option is just a way to associate some static pages with help files.

Your solution will need some custom work done.

If you do this tho, you won't be able to have static pages not associated with the help zone.

Ashley: You can do a lot with a little creativity. In this example you could make the customizations you were talking about which would tie all those static pages to the help zone, but you also have access to the "Position" of the items. So lets say with a little additional customization you set it so that only static pages with a position less than 500 are tied to the help zone, and from 500-700 are tied to a different list, and from 700-1000 are just used randomly on the site. There are lots of things you can do.

Thanks guys, and good suggestion jdiehl.

Is there a smarty tag loop for listing all the static pages so that they could be included in the navigation?

This is already done for help pages (which is why it seemed more convenient to just add all pages to the help section), but I don't want to have to hard-wire every new static page into the design!
