X-Cart 4.4 has been added to the development plan

There's too many ACTIVE branches of X-Cart

4.0.x, 4.1.x, 4.2.x 4.3.x and now a 4.4.x. Upgrading between any of them is a nightmare (always has been).

I agree with the previous poster regarding 4.3 & 4.4 in that they never should have been on the drawing board. I know it's nice to have all those things in the same branch level, but upgrading is such a nightmare that upgrading to Version 5 would be no more difficult than upgrading 4.1 to 4.3.

I like the addition of the new features, but really, I'd much rather see Version 5 released in March and allow us a few months of testing before the PCI Deadlines.

So there'll be a version 4.4 come out in March and a Version 5 in June/July... seems crazy to me. Version 4 shoudl have an EOL date set and future development continue into Version 5. Extending the life of 4.x hinders the potential growth of version 5. Just like 3 hindered 4. We STILL have users using Version 3 out there (oh, and I know one guy still using Version 2).

Why not add those features to v4.3 instead of creating an entire new branch for them.

Mamma mia ... this is crazy!! 4.4?? Just last night I was in bed thinking about the x-cart conundrum!

I keep on asking myself ... should I upgrade or should I wait. And now 4.4!!!

Question changed: Should I leave x-cart or not!?

.. i am using 4.2.1 and i got very unhappy when i heared that ihave to make the site design from scratch when 4.3 was out. As a previous poster said, x-cart users are medium sized companies and can't afford costs of upgrading. Personally i try to do it all by my self.

And to be true, i am very unhappy for finally choosing x-cart when i has the chance to choose.. Now i am looking the magento and i am crying

It's getting silly now, I'm sure a lot of us are preparing to jump ship, but we don't want to...

Seeing v4.2.x was bad enough. Even in v4.3, if a customer has forgotten their password, and they want to retrieve it, now they have to enter their username AND email they registered with. What if they don't know either?

I know "email logins" are forthcoming in v4.4, but was it really a good idea for v4.3 ?

Not to mention the ridiculous size and over-complicated nature of main.css, can't you make things simpler for the average guy to modify the store? The whole thing is so bloated now.

Just make a break from v4 and give us a clean, lean CSS friendly store !

And don't use quirks mode either.

When I heard V5 wouldn't come out until summer, I finally decided to make the plunge. Skipped 4.2 and am well into developing 4.3, upgrading mods, etc. Now this? This is ridiculous!

I'm no web developer but just playing with CSS to get my logo in V4.3 I noticed nearly 5000 lines of CSS -how many lines would be acceptable to make it lean and clean ??

It doesn't matter what version you are developing now. They will all be obsolete once V5 is released. I'm sure than 90% of x-cart users are waiting for this, and probably the majority of the 3rd party developers as well.

So now, the $64,000 question... will there be a v4.5 before version 5 is released? Is version 5 ever going to be released?
