I would like to put my embedded static pages in the root directory instead of the default location.

The reason is that I want to experiment with an index page separate from the home.php page, but want to have the same appearance and links with simplified editing.

Has anyone done this?

The current path is:
/home/myaccount/public_html/skin/common_files/pages/en/index.html

I want:
/home/myaccount/public_html/index.html

Do you know what files or settings I would need to edit, or if it is doable at all within X-Cart?

Alternatives like using an iframe are unattractive, and the normally generated html file cannot be simply copied to the root.
