Is anyone using this mod: http://www.x-cart.com/extensions/addons/wordpress-in-xcart-5.html

I find that nothing on the planet helps SEO better than Wordpress. My questions are the following:

1. Are you able to install Wordpress modules?
2. How does this affect updating Wordpress to the newest version?

Any experience would help.

My advice may be to just keep them separate. I have not used this module, but I have extensive experience with the X-Cart 4 module.

Yes you can update WordPress I am sure of that. What I am not sure of is, if this module requires a custom theme in WordPress in order to be used in X-Cart (similar to the X-Cart 4 module). If that is the case then it will have to be updated most likely in order to update WP.

Perhaps they could allow me to install a trial. The popularity rating on this module is pretty high, so there is someone using it (326).

The popularity rating for XC5 modules in a little bit misleading. It means the module was downloaded so many times. It does not mean there are so many active instances of the module.

Example 1: module was purchased 2 times. These 2 purchasers downloaded the module 1000 times for one reason or another (dev store, reinstallations, etc). Module popularity will 1000 although only 2 purchases were made.

Example 2: Module was purchased 2 times. Downloaded 10 times. One of the purchasers requested refund within a month. So now only one purchase is active. But this second purchaser is not using the module for one reason or another. Module popularity will be 10 although no one is using it.

I agree though you have to assume someone is using the module if it shows any number there.
