Default Use full country name in shipping address, not country code

It's a minor irritation, but the stamps.com module for Quickbooks (I use T-Hub) doesn't recognize two-letter country codes, and so for foreign orders I have to type in the full country name. Anyone know a way to get the full country name to appear in ship-to addresses?

I think the easiest way would be for you to open the page in webmaster mode and click "Variables" to see if there's a variable that has the full country name - my guess is that there is. Just like with U.S. state abbreviations and full state names.

Thanks for the reply, rhu. When you say "the page" which page do you mean? What I'm talking about is the information that's passed on to the database and thence to T-Hub and stamps.com. I'm not dealing with any page on x-cart.

Well, OK, I think I figured out what you meant. Even just in the admin area, I saw that there are variables location_country for the two-letter code, and location_country_name for the full name of the country.

Of course now I need to figure out which file passes the shippingaddress into to the database. Any idea about that?

No, that didn't help me. Both those variables are to do with the company, not the customer.

The pair seems to be "country" and "country_code".

I've never used stamps.com or T-hub so I don't know exactly how the info is passed - maybe somebody else in these forums might be able to help. Sorry.

Well, T-Hub is basically just taking the shipping and billing addresses of each order from the database. So it's not to do with T-Hub or stamps.com as such.

The database stores the two-letter code for the country rather than the country code. So it's a question of figuring out which bit of code is responsible for saving, say, "CA" as part of the shipping address rather than "Canada." And there, I am utterly clueless!
