Default Anyone have experience of Magnetic One?

Looking round for a Froogle/Google Base feed (I've already seen the one from Firetank but I'm looking for others to comepare with), and came across this

http://www.magneticone.com/store/X.Cart.Modules...Mods/x.Cart.Froogle.Data.Feed

and this, which seems to allow you to download it straight away.

http://x-cart-googlebase-data-feed.magneticone.qarchive.org/

I've not heard of Magnetic One before but there prices are cheaper for essentially the same product.

Anyone using this mod, or got anything good or bad to say about them before I make my decision?

Cheers

Dave

Yes, they are doing some useful stuff, and seem to respond OK to requests/problems, I use froogle feeds etc from them and work well enough although have problems with firefox in back end producing feeds so use IE

I have used their Google Checkout Level 2 payment module and would certainly NOT recommend it. The module is full of bugs and what is even worse, I had a bounced email last week after a Google checkout payment from pip@magneticone.com, it turned out that they hard coded an email address in the mod and have received a copy of every order placed through my store. As the php files are encrypted I cannot see this code and they have provided me with an update, but I am not confident that they have removed this !

Does this mean they are tracking all usage of the modules they supply? this is worse than a trojan or spyware!
IMHO illegal.

I agree, which is why I have disabled this module. They claim to have put the email address into the mod for testing purposes and removed it in later versions, if it was not for the bounce to their email address I would be completely unaware.
As the php files are encrypted who know's what they have in there !

That is very naughty. I was considering their products ( know I started this thread in December but I've been busy ), but not any more.

There's another thread http://forum.x-cart.com/showthread.php?t=31012 which makes interesting reading as well on pages 2 and 3.

well, I bought the Google Checkout mod from them. At first it didn't install, because there was an error in their SQL patch file. I corrected it after I found out what the prob was (basic syntax error).

I will let you know how it goes as soon as my google checkout account is activated.

Hi,

I thought I would add my pennies worth to this thread.

I have bought Google Checkout level 2 from Magnetic One and have found their service and support excellent, and certianly no worse than the other mod compaines out there (of which must of them I have dealt with)

I would recommend the google checkout module to anyone as it was cheaper than upgrading my site or getting xcart to mod 4.0 for me. And I have many orders going through google checkout with no problems at all.

Looking at getting thier new Tag Cloud mod now
